Moshi to Marangu Village & Waterfalls
Morning: Coffee, Museum & Blacksmiths
We depart Moshi and drive up the lush slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro to Marangu. Your day begins with a walk through local farms where subsistence farmers cultivate coffee, bananas, and yams. You will visit a local home to learn the traditional method of preparing coffee from bean to cup. Afterward, we visit the Chagga Live Museum to see a reconstructed thatched house and watch local blacksmiths forge iron tools.
Midday: Underground Tunnels & Traditional Lunch
Next, we explore the fascinating Chagga Bolt Holes—an intricate network of underground tunnels used historically to hide from enemies, complete with kitchens and sleeping quarters. Following this historical tour, you will be treated to a delicious, home-cooked Chagga meal, learning about local culinary traditions.
Afternoon: Waterfall Hike & Kilimanjaro Views
After lunch, we take a scenic nature walk to a beautiful local waterfall. Here you can rest, enjoy the peaceful environment, or take a refreshing swim. Weather permitting, you will be treated to gorgeous viewpoints of Mount Kilimanjaro before we board our vehicle and return to Moshi.
